Please be safe this holiday weekend and the entirety of this summer.A Fire Danger Burn Restriction is effective June 30, 2025, for Spokane County. With higher temperatures in the forecast, all Fire Agencies want to keep area communities safe from fire risk by reducing the number of human-caused wildfires.

Unauthorized open burning and unauthorized recreational fires, except devices with spark arrestors, are restricted until this order is lifted or unless otherwise permitted by law enforcement or authorized agencies.

Your opinion matters. Please stay informed, and look into what all of our partners in fire and law-enforcement throughout Spokane County have to say.𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧!! 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐎𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐢𝐬 𝐍𝐄𝐄𝐃𝐄𝐃!!

𝟏) Do you believe 911 emergency communications TAX money should be diverted from all other cities and Spokane County, as a whole, to fund the City of Spokane’s emergency communications services?

𝟐) Do you know two local state House of Representatives are proposing a bill (HB 1258) that would ONLY affect the Citizens of Spokane County (1 county out of 39 counties in Washington). ** Representative Timm Ormsby & Representative Natasha Hill

𝟑) What is HB 1258? The bill’s analysis states: “Providing funding for municipalities participating in the regional 911 emergency communications system.”

𝐇𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫: This is so narrowly tailored that it will 𝐎𝐍𝐋𝐘 affect Spokane County, 𝐍𝐎 other county in Washington. It will divert 911 emergency communications TAX money from all other cities and Spokane County, as a whole, to fund the City of Spokane’s emergency communications services.

4) Do you agree with this proposed bill (HB 1258)? Do you oppose it?

5) Should state legislators narrowly tailor bills (proposed state laws) 𝐎𝐍𝐋𝐘 to affect a single county and how they distribute tax dollars?

6) If a bill or law regarding tax funding is a good idea, shouldn’t it apply to all counties, not just 𝐎𝐍𝐄?

🚨Don’t Let Olympia Decide How Your Spokane County Tax Dollars Are Spent!🚨

House Bill (HB) 1258 has been drafted by District 3 Representatives Natasha Hill and Timm Ormsby to funnel a significant share of Spokane County’s tax dollars towards the City of Spokane.

Your Spokane County Fire District 2 believes HB 1258 is a bad deal for Spokane County. This bill would force our community to subsidize the City of Spokane’s financial issues, shifting our tax dollars to solve their problems—at the expense of 20 other fire and law enforcement agencies throughout Spokane County.

Spokane County deserves fair, local decisions—not mandates from Olympia. Regional cooperation through SREC works, saving money and improving safety for everyone. Don’t let one city’s budget priorities undermine our community.

📢SCFD 2 is opposed to HB 1258, and we stand along with 20 out of 22 law enforcement and fire agencies in the county on this issue. The bill will be considered and voted on in the WA State House of Representative Finance Committee on Thursday 1/30/2025 at 1:30pm.
